Working across sculpture, video, text and performance, Aniara Omann’s (1987, Denmark) work often uses forms and materials found in manual special effects and prop productions to explore the boundaries and paradoxes between interconnectedness and individuality. She is inspired by science fiction, and its ability to reflect present societal and psychological states of humanity, through imagined futures or alternative realities. She is graduated from The Glasgow School of Art and Funden Art Academy and has exhibited, among others, at the Art Sonje Centre (Seoul, 2019), Franz-Josef-Kai 3/17 (Vienna, 2019), Kunsthal Aarhus (2018) and Akureyri Art Museum (2016). Omann lives and works in Glasgow, UK.
